I was looking through Chris Sayles Maine Hockey homepage and I came across
something interesting in the records section. While this is in the media
guide, I guess since I haven't read the media guide records section
recently I missed it. :-)

In 1992-93 when Maine won the title they had a very good power play,
according to the record the best power play in Maine history at 31.9
percent effectiveness.

Now we'd all agree that was an incredibly talented team. But surprisingly
Maine's power play last year was 30.2 percent. Not far off that incredibly
pace during the title year, and with less talented players. Is it the
system, the coaching staff or the particular combination of players?
Pretty interesting statistic I found.

BTW, Chris' homepage is excellent and still growing. If you haven't viewed
it yet it is located at
http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Track/5928/index.html and if you have
sound you'll immediately recognize that you are in the right place!
