MAX NAENNY 1932-2006
Word reached me yesterday from Switzerland that Max had died on Saturday,
February 4. He was a frequent participant at Pound conferences and an
Associate Editor of Paideuma, where most of his Poundian conference papers
were published. His book on Pound, EZRA POUND: POETICS FOR AN ELECTRIC AGE
(1973), was the result of his deep involvement with Marshall McLuhan, whose
major books he translated into German. His enthusiasm for stylistic
phenomena, in later years iconicity in particular, found expression in
numerous articles and reviews.
Max was a good companion, always ready for a joke. I shall miss him.
