I spent a long time living in the Middle East (Lebanon) and while

the last couple of years I have been pointing interested
people at http://www.haaretzdaily.com/, the website of one
of the Israeli papers; unique in my experience in being in the
middle of the hurricane and still achieving a reasonable modicum
of balance.  Plus a lot of the writers are good.  -Tim
