Congratulations to Quinnipiac, which earned its first win over a "big
four" conference team tonight by defeating Union, 3-2, at Achilles
Rink. Justin Eddy was the story in goal for QC, stopping 45 Union
shots, including all 21 in the third period. Union looked shaky,
sloppy, and slow through two periods but they turned it on in the
third. Still, they couldn't put the puck past Eddy, who robbed Union
over and over, frequently with a quick glove. The game featured but
plenty of holding, hooking, slashing, interference, and pushing and
shoving after the whistle, but relatively few penalty calls. As the
players realized they could get away with it, things got worse, but
few penalties were called.
Union loses for the first time at home this season and moves to 6-2-2
on the year. They now begin a stretch of 6 straight road games
beginning with a visit to Princeton on Friday night.
