From American Hockey Magazine:

Erin Whitten, a native of Glens Falls, NY, is one of the top
women's ice hockey players in the world. The goaltender helped
lead the United States Women's National Team to a silver medal
at the 1994 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World
Championship, played April 11-17 in Lake Placid, NY. Whitten
posted a 2-1-0 record with one shutout and a 2.30 goals-against
average for Team USA and was chosen as the tournament's out-
standing goaltender.

I totally agree with USA Hockey. Whitten was the one USA player
who played up to expectations. She deserves the credit.

However, USA Hockey also gave out an award for coaching that was
completely wrong. TUSAW has a skillful pool of players. They
did not get the kind of leadership needed to play well at the
international tournament.
