Howard, Moore Named to 2003 National Junior Evaluation Camp


ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine men's ice hockey players Jimmy
Howard (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) and Greg Moore (Lisbon, Maine) were named to
the 2003 National Junior Evaluation Camp roster. The roster includes 43
of the best American hockey players under the age of 20. The camp will
be held August 3-10 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Exhibition games will be played between two U.S. squads and under-20
teams from Finland and Sweden.

Both Howard and Moore played for Team USA in the 2003 World Junior
Championships. Players participating in the 2003 National Junior
Evaluation Camp will be candidates for the 2004 U.S. National Junior
Team.

Howard played in 21 games in goal for the Black Bears in 2002-03 and
finished with a record of 14-6-0 with a 2.45 goals against average and
a .916 save percentage. Named Hockey East Rookie of the Year, Howard
set the UMaine record for consecutive scoreless minutes in 2002-03. He
also tied the school record with three shutouts.

Moore played in 33 games during his rookie year. He scored nine goals
and added seven assists for 16 points. He notched four power play goals
and added one short-handed tally.

The Black Bears open the 2003-04 season on Friday, Oct. 10 against
Wisconsin at the Nebraska-Omaha Tournament. Maine will face Sacred
Heart in the Alfond Arena opener on Fri., Oct. 17 in the Black Bear
