Maine defeats #3 North Dakota 5-1 Saturday night in Grand Forks. Maine
jumped on North Dakota 3-0 before the Fighting Sioux knew what hit
them. The first two goals for the Black Bears were scored 12 seconds
apart. Maine led 4-0 after one and had a 5-1 lead after two periods.

Colin Shields had two goals, which gives him 5 goals already to start the year.

Mike Morrison made 46 saves in the victory, many in the second period as
North Dakota tried to get back into the game.

Prestin Ryan played in his first game for Maine and scored a goal. The
Black Bears also had their second short-handed goal of the weekend... Maine
had only 2 SHG all last year.

Francis Nault scored, but left the game with a knee injury. WZON was not
sure the extent of the injury.

Maine (2-2) will travel to Western Michigan for a pair of games next
weekend. North Dakota falls to 3-2 with the loss.
