Here is a few items I learned today..

* ESPN is reporting that Garth Snow will be the Flyers starting goaltender
for their series against the Penquins, which starts tonight. Snow is
14-8-8 with a GAA around 2.50 and a save percentage around 90-91 percent.

* Paul Kariya had two goals and an assist as the Mighty Ducks of Anahiem
won their first ever playoff game 4-2 over Phoenix.

* Jeff Libby, who has elected to forgoe his senior year at Maine, has been
put on the preliminary roster for TEAM USA at the IIHF World Championships
to be held in Finland April 26-May 14, according to Maine SID Matt Bourque.
Also on the roster are former Maine defensemen Bob Beers and Matt Martin.
Libby and Minnesota's Eric Rasmussen are the only two players on the roster
to have played college hockey last season. For Maine interim coach Greg
Cronin is the assistant coach of TEAM USA, and Mike Milbury (the NY
Islanders GM who signed Libby) is the GM of the team. Bourque expects more
players to be added as NHL teams get knocked out of the playoffs.

* Merrimack college has re-signed head coach Ron Anderson to a two-year
deal, and also released their schedule. Maine will host Merrimack on
Friday Nov. 14 and Saturday Nov. 15. The Black Bears will travel to North
Andover in the third game of the series on Friday Jan. 9.
