The reason why Jeff Libby wasn't on the captain list Saturday is because he
has chosen to go pro. Friday afternoon Libby decided to forgoe his senior
year and sign with the New York Islanders of the NHL. Apparently Kevin
Thomas did not know this information prior to his deadline.

WZON is reporting that Libby was guaranteed $500,000 for signing. Clearly
this is a big loss to the Maine defensive corps, but Maine will be ok at
defense as they have at least 3 defenseman coming into the program next year.

Maine's captains are Brian White, Shawn Wansborough and Steve Kariya next
season. Good luck to Jeff Libby yet another Maine-born defenseman in the
pros.
