As much as I like the folks at WZON, and as much as I dislike agreeing
with anyone at the Bangor Daily News, Pete Warner is right ... this is
a decrease in U Maine sports coverage ... and threatens our men's ice
hockey radio coverage.

"Ideas" such as offsetting conflicting games by 30 minutes is a *bad*
idea. It will simply allow inadequate, frustrating coverage of both
games. Changing game starting times will hurt attendance by frustrating
fans buying tickets.

"Tape delay" is a better idea, but probably won't fly because of the
costs and lack of audience for off-hours tape delay broadcast.

IMHO, we must require WZON to commit to complete coverage of hockey and
not be concerned how they handle the other sports.

Please send us your ideas (at least the ones that apply to or affect
hockey) and by all means send your comments to WZON.

Maine hockey fans can influence our teams' coverage by telling WZON
just what you think. WZON knows what I think, please let them know
what you think.

WZON can be reached via e-mail to [log in to unmask]
They may not reply, but your mail will be read by station management.

Please write today. If you change your mind or come up with an idea
later, write to them again. You probably won't get a vote, but your
action will have an effect.

Yours in college hockey,
