Merrimack's Ron Anderson was named New England Division I Coach of
the Year by the New England Hockey Writers.
 
The Division I award covers all of Hockey East, plus the five New
England ECAC schools.  It will be presented to Anderson on April 8
at the writers' annual dinner.
 
This is the second time that Anderson has been honored by the
writers.  In 1987-88, he was recognized for directing Merrimack to
a 34-6-0 record, including a pair of wins in the NCAA Division I
tournament.
 
Anderson is also one of eight finalists for the Spencer Penrose
Memorial Award as national coach of the year.  The Penrose Award is
voted on and awarded by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
