I agree they won't be embarassed, but they did avenge that loss. BU was
blown away in that game, being outshot something crazy like 18-1 at one
point of the first.

Let's also understand that few people aside from Terrier faithful gave them
much of a chance against a Michigan team that "seemingly" had this thing won
before the tournament started.

For Michigan, NOTHING short of a national title was a success to them or
their fans. In a sense, this is more hurtful to them than BU's losing last
year. I'd say it is revenge for the Terriers.

If BU wins, it means that Hockey East is once again home of a the national
champion, and Maine will play in the conference to win titles in 1993, 1995
and 1997. When a conference wins three of the last five national titles,
that says something about the teams in that conference.

If BU wins it all, Maine fans will also have to do something that few (if
any) want to do, and that is give Jack Parker credit. He certainly deserves
it for his game plan against Michigan, very well done.

And yes.. I know plenty of BU fans who gave Walsh credit for his half-season
performance. Everyone recognizes what Maine did.

I understand for many Maine fans, this is bittersweet. There is no real way
to "win". First, Maine (who beat BU all three times they played) is not
eligible, then you have BU in the finals. If they win, it's BU, Maine's
most bitter rival, and they just won the title. If they lose, people will
continue to rag on Hockey East for being "down" this year.

On Saturday, given the choice between North Dakota (WCHA.. one of those
western conferences who rag on Hockey East) and BU, I'll be rooting for BU.
It won't be like BU "got lucky" or some other excuse.. they just beat the
best team in the nation, and if they win Saturday they will deserve the title.

It isn't so much about BU, as it is pride in our conference.

Wouldn't the BU board on AOL like to see this! :-)
