I caught Todd Jackson on WZON on Wednesday:
-Todd says he was kind of excited to go out west (same sentiment that I heard from Shaneberger) to get away from the distractions of facing teams they know and the local scene.

-Even with the crowd booing them it cranks up the adrenaline.

-He may try to visit his host family from when he was out there but other than that doesn't have any plans to see anyone from his days out there. He does know a couple of guys on the team

-If they can weather the storm they should be in good shape. (meaning be ahead/tied after one period)

-Goalies look great in practice, the team has to play better in front of them so they aren't forced into bailing the other 5 guys out all the time.

-The last week they have been working on their own systems and aren't focusing as much on what to do to stop Michigan.

-There was a good mood around the team with the Captain's scrimmages that happened a couple of weeks ago. Pretty much they scrimmaged (US vs. Canada) apparantly the Canadians won on a "late goal"

-They are ready to go and hope other teams have "lower expectations" about their abilities

COACH WHITEHEAD'S REPORT

- 3 different groups heading out of Bangor to Ann Arbor today after a morning practice.
-Very good practices since found out who they are playing, tired of playing each other.
-Can't wait to get out there
-Injuries = wait and see but thinks everyone should be ready to go
-Goalies = different process as far as deciding who goes, will play the guy who is "playing best" despite the fact that they haven't played in 3 weeks

- if they win and play well, then look for the same guy in goal the next night because its one and done from here on out.

- Maine has a lot of respect for their team, but Michigan isn't invincible
- Michigan has a mix of Seniors and a ton of sophomores. Very talented team, Tambolini is a big-time player. Montoya set school record for freshman wins. Ortmeyer is headed to the next level
-Montoya = butterfly style, kicks rebounds off pads that they want to exploit
-Explanation given to Maine about getting shipped west - was that Cornell couldn't play wayne state or mercyhurst so they wanted to soften the second round game for them, hence BC(being the lowest ranked #2)
-If they can beat Michigan and when CC watches them play in the afternoon, then CC will be scared of a team that knocked off a hot Mich team in their own barn.
-The bigger the game, the more pressure on the home team to get the win.
-They know its going to be a great game, and whether maine wins 8-7 or 1-0 they know they will be a tough team to beat the rest of the way.
