I totally disagree with having the students take over the balcony.
Its not necessarily the location of the students that is the problem.
The students, for the most part, aren't making the noise they used
to make 5-8 years ago. Students used to be able to stand in line on
a Monday or Tuesday with 8 or 10 student ID's and pick up a group of
tickets and those 8 or 10 students would sit together and yell and
scream together. TKE used to practically reserve a whole section of
seats behind the goal, get to the game just as the puck was dropped
and make all kinds of noise...I don't see much of that anymore.
Back to the balcony issue- I say give the back 3 rows of the balcony
to the students but don't move the season ticket holders out of the
balcony - many of these people have been diehard supporters since the
late seventies who fully understand the game of hockey and truly
deserve to have the best seats in the house.

Here's another possible suggestion to help get Alfond rocking
again... Put half of the band and half of the Blue Line club on the
other side of the ice - then the 2 bands could play off of each other
and get both sides of the rink to cheer more. Or what about FoMH
sponsoring a couple of student spirit contests at the first game or 2
next year ( something like the loudest section of 25 students or
most outrageous group, etc.).
