Yeah, Tony is my brother. However, he left Fairbanks to pursue his
referee career and to get out of the beautiful Alaskan weather we have.
Being in Fairbanks limited the type of games he refs so he moved to
Minnesota to do other leagues. When we became CCHA members he knew
that the scheduling wasn't done in Fairbanks, but in Detroit (where
the offices are). Anyhow, there were games during
my freshman year that Tony refereed and this was before UAF was true CCHA
members. The reason that UAF didn't particularly enjoy the calls
Tony made, was because he didn't favor the home team as other refs
were easily persuadable. Anyhow, when we became CCHA members they
scheduled the referees
from the CCHA headquarters and local refs don't do UAF games. They are
allowed to line the games, just not ref. This is true as far as I know in
all of the leagues for all of the cities.
As for Chris, he didn't graduate from Fairbanks but he does live in
Fairbanks. He hasn't ever really been interested in refereeing , just
lining.
Hopefully this will clear up the matter in Fairbanks. You can forward
this to Carlson if you'd like. He can contact me for more info about
hte refing scene.
