I was disappointed in what I have heard about Prestin Ryan this week.
He really did appear to revert to his "old self" after starting the
season very well.
Prestin clearly is needed on that blue line and his ability to rush the
puck is crtical.
BUT, what is also very clear is that he has created one MONUMENTAL
reputation for himself. Whether or not Eaves deserved more of a
penalty, it does sound like Prestin is being watched very closely by
officials. But EVERYONE but him seems to know this.
Prestin has played very well sans one game. While I am not impressed
with his performance and his lack of ability to keep his hot temper
under control, I'm not ready to entirely write him off. Yet.
Now, this is his defining moment. I imagine that Whitehead has seen
about enough and if he can rebound and use some common sense it could
be key. But, I think his leash will be very short because Maine (as a
team) needs to cut down on the dumb penalties and if that means sitting
Prestin (significantly) than so be it.
But, I'm sure he'll be in the lineup soon and his fate will be up to
him. I hope, for our sake as fans and his sake as a player, he gets it
together.
