° The University of Maine placed three student athletes on the Verizon
Academic All-District team announced today. Danielle Burke (Canaan,
Maine), a goalie on the field hockey team, Martin Kariya (North
Vancouver, British Columbia), a forward on the men's ice hockey team,
and Vanessa McGowan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario), a member of the cross
country team, will all be placed on the national ballot as District I
