That would be Chris and the over-achieving 1995 Black Bears. Chris was
also Hockey East Player of the Year and First Team All American that
year, with the season culminating in a great (3 overtime!) comeback
victory over Michigan in the National semi-finals. That one is still
quite vivid in my mind, as my then 4-month-old son and his mother
endured the whole game, helped in part by the *one* concession that
stayed open after the 2nd intermission with shaved ice/lemonade
(it was hot up in the "Bob Ucker" seats!).
The winners that year, not that it matters to a Maine fan :-(, were
Brian Holzinger of BGSU and BU.
Chris, one of the kindest men and most tenacious defenders I've ever
met, is now Coach of the Pittsburgh Forge

To get really off the hockey track, Chris's gorgeous wedding of a couple
of years ago was featured in a 15-minute segment of a TV program on
great weddings. Maybe not so far off track ... as a mutual friend
enticed Chris to sing the Maine Stein Song after the ceremonies and for
the camera!
In other Maine alumni news, Boston Bruin and former Hobey Baker winner
Scott Pellerin was claimed off waivers last week by Dallas. Too bad it
didn't work out in Boston for Scott (1 goal this season and several
recent healthy scratches), as he makes his home in New Hampshire.
Hopefully, he'll get the playing time he wants in Dallas.
Hope to see you all Fri & Sat at the Alfond.
cheers, wayne
