   The guesses Paul Kariya, Chris Ferraro and Peter Ferraro would all be
   great guesses, IMHO.  All 1st-year players on the famed 92-93 NCAA
   Championship team, each scored in their first game, a 9-3 pasting of
   PC in a newly renovated Alfond Arena, Chris scoring twice.

However, Maine players scoring in their 1st game is not all that
uncommon.  Ignoring players coming in mid-season,  here are some
(apologies if I'm incorrect on any) ...

2001 - Oct 20 Matthew Deschamps (@NoDak, 5-1W).  According to Dan Hannigan
              Deschamps score was on his first shot on goal.
       Oct 12 John Ronan, Colin Shields (BGSU, 9-1W).

2000 - Oct 13 Todd Jackson (NoDak, 1-1T).

1999 - Oct 16 Chris Heisten (MN, 5-3W).

1998 - Oct 16 Peter Metcalf (@UN-O, 7-2W).

1997 - Oct 17 Mattias Trattnig (@MN, 6-1W).

1996 - Oct 18 (none) (@Mich, 0-3L).

1995 - Oct 13 (?) (Miami @GWFreezeout, 6-5W)

1994 - Oct 20 (none) (@UAF, 7-3W)

1993 - Oct 22 TRevor Roenick (@PC, 5-1W)

1992 - Oct 23 Chris Ferraro (2), Peter Ferraro, Paul Kariya
              (PC 9-3W).
