Maine completes the sweep tonight with a solid 5-2 win over Providence.
The win gives the Black Bears second-place in Hockey East and also drops
UNH to 4th-place. Providence will finish in third place.

Michael Schutte had a couple goals tonight and was named the game's first
star.

Providence had a 1-0 lead after one, a period that Maine dominated the
first half of, but slowly Providence gained confidence as the period went
on.

Maine took it to the Friars in the second, scoring 3 times to jump out to
a 3-1 lead.

The Black Bears pulled back the troops some after scoring a fourth goal in
the third period to make it 4-1. Providence added a late power-play goal
and Maine deposited an empty net goal to round out the scoring.

Maine has lost only one game this season when scoring at least 3 goals. I
believe the record is 14-1-2 in those games.

Also, Steve Wright was able to get into the game in goal for Maine in the
late stages of this one. Wright has been helping the team out as a goalie
in practice and got to live a dream I am sure when he dressed for both
games this weekend and made it into the game tonight.

Quarterfinals are next, still don't know who Maine will face, either
Northeastern or UMass depending on late results. Maine will play
Thursday, Friday and Saturday (if necessary). If the atmosphere at the
Alfond is anything like it was this weekend, Maine's opponent should look
out.
