As I surf the net looking for colleges which have their games broadcast over the net, some interesting observations surfaced. When I started tracking this about 4 years ago, hockey on the net was a rare occurrence. Back then, schools
like Denver, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan broadcast their games and few others.

As of today, of the 58 schools which belong to the 6
Division 1 leagues, 40 of them broadcast their games on the net (69%). If you exclude the 2 new leagues and count only the 4 "older, established" leagues, 38 of 42 schools broadcast
(90%). In some cases (like Maine, BU, Ohio State) there are two broadcasts of most games, one commercial and the other from the school stations.

With the advent of Alaska Anchorage broadcasts, the WCHA becomes the 1st league where all teams have a broadcast (although, strangely enough, Denver, one of the first teams to broadcast years ago, hasn't been on the air yet this year).
In the CCHA, only Ferris State has no broadcast. In the ECAC, only Vermont does not broadcast. And in Hockey-East, Northeastern and UMass-Lowell do not broadcast.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, in the MAAC, no-one broadcasts except for the MAAC Game of the week. And in the CHA, of the six teams, 3 of them broadcast (although Niagara
hasn't been on the air yet).

I find it amazing that in the short span of 4 years, you can go anyplace in the world and as long as you have an internet connection and a sound card, you can listen to just about every division 1 game being played.
