UMaine Names Paul A. Bubb Senior Associate Athletic Director

ORONO, MAINE- Paul A. Bubb, an athletic administrator with nearly 20
years experience in development, has been named University of Maine
Senior Associate Director of Athletics it was announced today by Black
Bear Director of Athletics Suzanne Tyler.

"We are extremely excited to attract a candidate such as Paul to the
University of Maine," said Tyler. "He has the combination of experience
in development and athletic administration that this reconfigured
position calls for," explained Tyler.

As Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Advancement and Finance,
Bubb will conduct major gift solicitations to achieve fund-raising
goals established jointly by the Director of Athletics and the
Executive Director of Development. He will also manage the external
relations of the department, including development,
marketing/promotions, and media relations. He will also assume
responsibility for managing the department and conducting senior staff
meetings in Tyler's absence.

Bubb, 44, held the position of assistant director for the Bronco
Athletic Association at Boise State University since 1999. He had
direct oversight for a $1 million annual giving program for Bronco
Athletics. His responsibilities at BSU also included development of
strategies for increasing members and dollars raised for the Bronco
Athletic Association and also participation in the planning for the
university capital campaign.

Prior to Boise State, Bubb worked at the Cal State Northridge
Department of Athletics from 1990 to 1998. He served as Director of
Athletic Development from 1990-92, Associate Athletic Director from
1992-95, and Director of Athletics from 1995 until 1998. As AD, he had
direct oversight of a 21-sport NCAA Division I athletic program and he
managed a budget of $6.8 million. He oversaw a staff of 70 coaches and
staff members. He developed long-range plans for meeting gender equity
requirements and also a funding plan for maintaining a broad-based
Division I athletic program.

As associate director he oversaw the areas of development, marketing,
sports information, camps, event management, and corporate
sponsorships.

Prior to his tenure at Cal State Northridge, Bubb served as Director of
Alumni and Parent Programs and Director of Athletic Development at
Drake University from 1988 to 1990. He was Director of Athletic
Development at Southern Illinois from 1985 to 1988. From 1980 until
1985, he served as an assistant basketball coach at Monmouth College
while also assisting with annual giving and alumni and parent programs.

Bubb received a bachelor of arts degree in history/education from
Monmouth College in 1979 and a master's degree from Western Illinois in
sports management. He is married to the former Susan Oaks and they are
the parents of a seven-year old daughter, Kallan.
