As a pep band alumni from a school without a hockey team, I agree with Beth
that the UMaine pep band perform the National Anthem at home games.

I think her comment that musicians are there

is right on point.  There have been many times that I've thought the
singing of the National Anthem was going to last longer than the game
itself.

Does anyone know where the tradition of singing it before a sporting event
got started??
