this is a letter i have written and will be sending to the bdn sports
editor. if there is anything that should be added or changed, let me
know. i would like to have it sent in so that it can be in the friday
or saturday paper if they decide to run it. maybe too offensive to the
jerks i am talking about.
 
 
The Best Fans in the Country?
 
To the Editor,
        This may be just me but I have noticed something at the Maine Hockey
games. As soon as the winning 50/50 ticket has been drawn, it seems
like there is a mad dash being made for the exits. Now if these people
are fans, then why are they leaving? Are the true fans of is it like
going to a casino? Even if Maine is losing it seems like, well I didn t
win the 50/50 draw and Maine is losing, so lets get going so we can
beat the rush. To me that is not being a true fan. If it is gambling
that you are into, go to the store and buy a lottery ticket and some
scratch tickets because there are a lot of other people that would love
to be in the Alfond cheering for the Black Bears.
 Maine is an awesome team and anything can happen until that horn
blows. I am a student here at UMO and also sit in the Maine~iak
section, and it has come down in some of the games that us students are
pretty much the only ones cheering, but then some of the other  fans
get into it. If people don t want to see Maine lose, then stay and
cheer for them, show those guys out there that you are pushing for
them. If not, stay home, there are plenty of people that would love to
get into the game and cheer the Bears on and see them win. So when they
say Maine has the best fans in the country, is this the truth?
