OK, let's look at the RPICH for NMU and MSU:

12 Michigan State 38 22-14- 2 .6053 .4890 .5029 .5178
---
14 Northern Michigan 41 20-17- 4 .5366 .5267 .4975 .5170

The difference in RPICH is too close to call. Now we proceed to head-to-
head competition:

12/26/92 Michigan State 1 vs Northern Michigan 4 NC (GLI)

Uh-oh, NMU won the only game between the two teams this season.

That's how it works.
