Once again, Michigan State remains a unanimous #1, as they have since the
GLI. Minnesota was again involved this week's close race, losing 8th spot to
Western Michigan by one point. The top 12 are unchanged this week, and in
the receiving votes category we see Miami and Nebraska-Omaha.
We had 16 votes this week, six West (3 WCHA, 2 CCHA, 1 CHA), ten East (6
HEA, 3 ECAC and 1 MAAC) and one with no region indicated. There appears to
be a consensus solidifying on the top 12 teams. The Top 9 were on all
ballots, Providence was on 12, while Denver and Maine were on 11.
The WCHA has six teams in the top 12, Hockey East has four, and the CCHA
has three. The closest ECAC teams was Clarkson, who fell 11 points shy of
entry.
