At 18:59 of the second period of Friday night's UMass Lowell-BU game, the
Riverhawks' Yorick Treille checked BU's Colin Sheen form behind and was
assessed a 2:00 minor for boarding. Sheen was slow in getting up and shed
blood. Jack Parker pointed out the blood to referee Jeff Bunyon to no
avail.

It has always been my understanding, as well as those throughout Walter
Brown Arena Friday night, that bloodshed constitutes a five-minute major.
Am I correct in this understanding? When you consider the gravity the NCAA
places on checking from behind, this call seems very curious to me.

BTW, this call had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. BU and UML
have played twice so far this season, and the Riverhawks have embarrassed
the Terriers for each of the six periods played. BU had essentially quit
(QUIT!) well before the incident in question.
