        *This* year.  But last year, when UAF was only an associate
member, they went to the playoffs, along with the 10 full members of
the league, hence 11.

        Nope.  Only the top ten go; Dartmouth and Yale stayed home
last year.
 
        I suppose a 13-team tournament isn't out of the question; the
current format could be modified so that only the top three teams
placed out of the preliminary game the Tuesday between the end of the
season and the quarterfinal series.  But I'd assume it would be the
biggest conference tournament in the history of Division I College
Hockey.
