Well, I found a talk show today that WOULD talk to me about college
hockey. I called into a show on WDFN (1130 AM) out of Detroit after the
Babe show(which I have been bitching about!!) and the host had Alan Adams
of the Canadien Press on. I asked Alan about his thoughts on the type of
contributions that college hockey players in the pros had to offer and
this is what he had to say:

" I think NCAA hockey is good hockey, I don't think there's anything
the matter with it. Look at the guys it's produced. This year you have
Paul Kariya who's fighting Peter Forsberg(for ROY), Cujo (Curtis Joseph)
in St. Louis I believe is a college hockey product. There's no doubt
that the type of players that they produce is the upper echelon of the
prospects, the guys drafted in the first and second rounds, after that I
think the Major Juniors take over. The big thing that's going to be
facing college hockey is the opting in, opting out provision that they
have in the draft that hasn't been resolved yet. That will have a big
impact on college hockey teams. If you can't opt in when you're an 18
year old US high school kid, where do you go? You go to the colleges or
the major juniors. If you really wanna get into the NHL quicker, you
might want to go to the major juniors and just opt in automatically and
if not you go to the NCAA where you can't be taken."

I also asked Alan his thoughts about Brian Holzinger but he said he
hasn't gotten to see a lot of college hockey and thus he couldn't
comment. But he did say that he knew BGSU was a really solid program and
one of the tops in college hockey.

That conversation eased my anger a little bit as I saw that there
actually WERE people who wanted to talk about college hockey(I know, I'm
bitching again :-)

Holzinger for Hobey Baker!!!!!!
