Union defeated Yale tonight, 5-1, at Achilles Rink. Union got 33
saves from Brandon Snee, many on shots from in close, and two goals
from Bryan Yackel. Yackel's second goal was scored while sitting down
and sliding toward the net. The game featured a 5-minute major for
hitting from behind, assessed to Yale's Jeff Hamilton for a dangerous
looking hit on Brent Booth early in the third. Hamilton also received
a game misconduct. Snee lost his shutout bit fairly late in the third
period.
Combined with RPI's win over Princeton and Colgate's win over Vermont,
this puts Union and Colgate in a tie for 8th place in the ECAC and
Princeton and Yale in a tie for 10th. Union stands at 7-9-1 in the
ECAC and 11-13-3 overall.
Princeton visits Achilles Rink on Saturday night.
