I wonder why this is so.  Is this just a situation where the NHLPA
is run by North Americans who don't want to see an influx of Europeans
into the league? This seems like a very artificial rule and one that
might not stand up to legal scrutiny. (Of course, any player that
takes the league/NHLPA over this kind of issue wouldn't have an easy
time in the league if he won...)

Just my thoughts on a summer morning.
