Hi, Everyone ...
Shawn has finished the five-day portion of this treatment cycle and
begins the next and final five days this coming week. It is a brutal
treatment, causing horrific side effects, but he is being as strong as
you all know him to be and getting through it. A couple of days after
the fifth day this last time, he and his wife walked 37 minutes around
the neighborhood where they are staying and his endurance was better
than expected.
Most believe that he will not be behind the bench during October -- he
just needs time to rest and get over the treatment and have some time
with his family. But, a broadcast link has been set up so that he can
watch the games on television this weekend -- so, those of you who will
be in the Alfond, make some signs. The cameras will likely be looking
for them. Those of you who won't -- post a note to the "Get Well,
Coach" folder on the Message Board at MaineBeat.com. He really
appreciates those so much.
