Joe,
    I didn't realize they painted between the ice layers.  I
guess they weren't able to do it
because of the very warm temperatures (80 F.) early in the
week.  What kind of paint is used?
    I didn't see any photos of the freezer surface so I'm
not sure what color it was.  But you could see the seams 2
to 3 feet apart from where I sat.  About the only thing that
could have solved the shadows along the boards would be
lights directly  overhead.  In Spartan Stadium there
wouldn't be anything to attach them to.
