While watching the BC V. UNH game this afternoon they did an interview with
the hockey east commissioner. After the events of the first game in the BU/PC
series Jack was suspended from the second game of that series. Each
institution in hockey east has the right to appeal any suspensions handed
down by the commissioner but BU chose not to exercise that privilege. Since
this so rarely happens there are no actual written hockey east laws on
weather or not a coach can attend a game he has been suspended from.
Apparently Jack was not only at the game, but in a press box with an earpiece
communicating with his assistant coach and bench. While the commissioner
admitted that this isn't technically a violation of the rules because there
are no set rules, he said that "it definitely violated the spirit of the
suspension" he also commented that this has been an ongoing problem with Jack
over the years and that this pushed him over the edge. The commissioner said
that his first task tomorrow morning will be to call BU's athletic office and
make in inquiry into this matter...Lets' all hope good ol' Jack gets what he
deserves!
