My thoughts regarding Heather's post --

How about (in the unlikely event that BU even MAKES it to the final four)
having her paged at a crucial moment in the game and having the customer
service people at the Fleet Center give her an envelope with all sorts of
Maine memorabilia. Maybe someone should check with the administration
office in Orono to see if she has any unpaid parking tickets (and revoke
her diploma).

I think this statement describes the essence of Shawn Walsh. He took the
team from a disastrous season in 1994 to one win away from the whole
enchilada in 1995. He came back after year's suspension and helped
motivate last year's team to a sweep of BU.

I say so long and good riddance (one more ticket for the rest of us)

This discussion got me to thinking about some of MY fondest memories that
have to do with Maine hockey, which I thought I'd share --

1) The trip to Lake Placid in 1988; marching down the main road to the
arena behind the pep band and singing the stein song.

2) Having my picture taken with the "naked guys" in 1995 and sending it out
with my Christmas cards (much to my mother's dismay).

3) Watching Bob Beers (whose name and number I now have on the back of my
Bruins jersey) score the winning goal in the 1989 (I think) Hockey East
Championship at Conte Forum.

4) Watching the 1993 champhionship game; being so afraid to jinx the team
that I changed sweatshirts between the second and third period (when I
remembered it was the one I was wearing when Maine lost to LSSU in 1988).

5) MAINE BEATING MICHIGAN IN THE GREATEST HOCKEY GAME EVER!!

This really only scratches the surface.

GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
