Off the circuit, but there is a wonderful book about Angleton from the
Ballantine Books' Espionage/Intelligence Library called WILDERNESS OF
MIRRORS, by David C. Martin. It points out that Angleton was a roommate
of Reed Whitmore at Yale, and founded a poetry/literary journal,
Furioso, that published work by Pound, Cummings, MacLeish, WCW, Stevens
and others. Angleton later went to Harvard and was recruited into the
intelligence service, then the OSS, by none other than Norman Holmes
Pearson.

According to Martin, Angleton was stationed in Rome in 1945, and visited
Pound in Genoa.
