While reading my "National Hockey News Daily" from Infobeat, I came across
the following item:
>COYOTES SIGN CORKUM, AVOID ARBITRATION HEARING
>
>(AP) - The Phoenix Coyotes signed Bob Corkum to a one-year
>contract Thursday, a day before the 30-year-old center was
>scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing in Toronto. Corkum,
>believed to have agreed to a $750,000 deal, was seeking $1
>million in arbitration after making $500,000 last season. The
>Coyotes initially offered a 10 percent raise, the minimum
>qualifying offer. Corkum, a top faceoff man and penalty killer,
>had 12 goals and 21 points last season. He has 73 goals and 201
>points in eight seasons with Buffalo, Anaheim, Philadelphia and
>Phoenix.
