I would like ANYONE who thinks that Pound's use of Jefferson and Adams
writings in the Cantos ( or in his prose), suggests a belief in
representative government, to give us a quote or two AND TO INTERPRET the
 quote(s).

another red herring, I'm afraid. the word "believed" is a loaded one, and
implies various grades of "belief".... I continue to say that Pound was not
hostile to democratic principles, per se, that his criticisms were directed
towards particular governments and particular persons -- can anyone say that
an imperialist like Churchill was democratic towards India, or other British
colonies? the US itself is about 15 or 20 parties short of being democratic.
one can only hope that it will eventually dawn on Wei that buzz words like
"democratic" are highly suspect, especially when used to bash one's opponents
-- like Eliot Abrams or Oliver North during the 70's, or Bill Clinton & Tony
Blair during the bombing of Serbia. I maintain the issue of the basis of
Pound's political beliefs is much more sophisticated than an anti-Pound crank
like Wei allows for.
