How about some fun?

The only definites:

1) Clarkson and Yale will finish first and second in some order.
2) RPI has clinched 3rd, Brown has clinched 4th
3) Union is out of the playoffs
4) Vermont, Dartmouth and SLU are fighting for two playoff spots

That's it.

How about some fun?

-->>A tie for first place
happens if Yale ties and Clarkson wins OR
Yale loses and Clarkson ties

head to head - 1-1-0
Record v. Top 4 - Yale 2-1-1 or 2-2-0, Clark 3-1-0
Clarkson 1st, Yale 2nd

-->>Why has Brown clinched 4th place?
In order for Colgate to get into a 4th place tie with Brown, they have
to win, Brown has to lose. Head to head, they are 1-1-0, so go to
record versus top 4, in this case it is top 3. Brown is 2-3-1,
Colgate is 1-4-1. Brown wins, Brown is 4th.

-->> What happens with a tie for fifth place?

- Colgate with Cornell.
Head to head - 1-1-0
Record v. Top 4 - Colgate 2-5-1, Cornell 3-5-0 (Cornell must win)
Cornell wins tiebreaker

- Colgate with Princeton
Head to head - 1-1-0
Record v. Top 4 - Colgate 2-5-1, Princeton 2-5-1 even
Record v. Top 8 - determine who is in 8th
          - tell you what, you figure it out later

- Colgate with Harvard
Head to head - 0-2-0, Harvard wins tiebreaker

-How about three way ties for fifth?

-Colgate with Cornell and Princeton
Head to head - Col 2-2-0, Cor 3-1-0, Prin 1-3-0
Cornell finishes 5th
Break Colgate and Princeton tie
Head to head - 1-1-0
Record v. Top 4 - Colgate 2-5-1, Princeton 2-5-1, even
Record v. Top 8 - See above

- Colgate with Cornell and Harvard
head to head - Col 1-3-0, Cor 3-1-0, Harvard 2-2-0
Cornell finishes 5th
Break Colgate and Harvard tie
Head to head - 2-0-0 Harvard
Harvard is 6th, Colgate 7th

- Colgate with Princeton and Harvard
head to head - Col 1-3-0, Prin 2-1-1, Harv 2-1-1
Colgate is 7th
Break Princeton and Harvard tie
head to head, 1-0-1 Princeton
Princeton 5th, Harvard 6th

- How about a four way tie (it can happen)?
Colgate, Princeton, Cornell, and Harvard
head to head - Col 2-4-0, Prin 2-3-1, Harv 2-3-1, Cor 5-1-0
Cornell is 5th
Break Colgate, Princeton and Harvard tie
See above, Princeton 6th, Harvard 7th, Colgate 8th

That is all of the possibilities for 5th place. Let's move on to 6th
place.

-->> Sixth place possibilities

- Cornell and Princeton
head to head - 2-0-0 Cornell
Cornell wins tiebreaker

- Cornell and Harvard
head to head - 2-0-0 Cornell
Cornell wins tiebreaker

- Princeton and Harvard
head to head 1-0-1 Princeton
Princeton wins tiebreaker

-- How about a three way tie for 6th?
Cornell, Princeton, Harvard
Head to head - Cor 4-0-0, Prin 1-2-1, Har 0-3-1
Cornell 6th
break tie, Harvard and Princeton
head to head - 1-0-1 Princeton
Princeton 7th, Harvard 8th

-- How about a four way tie for 6th?
-Cornell, Princeton, Harvard, Vermont
This can not happen because Dartmouth would have to beat Harvard,
which means that Dartmouth is onvolved in the tiebreaker.

-Cornell, Princeton, Harvard, Dartmouth
This can happen, Dartmouth must beat Harvard
head to head - Cor 5-1-0, Prin 3-2-1, Harv 1-4-1, Dart 2-4-0
Cornell is 6th
break tie with Princeton, Harvard, and Dartmouth
head to head - Prin 3-0-1, Harv 1-2-1, Dart 1-3-0
Princeton 7th
break tie with Harvard and Dartmouth
head to head 1-1-0

Harvard 8th, Dartmouth 9th

--How about a five way tie for 6th??
Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Vermont
(happens if Clarkson d. Cornell, Dartmouth d. Harvard, Union d.
Princeton, Vermont d. Brown)
head to head - Cor 6-1-1, Harv 2-5-1, Prin 3-3-2, Dart 3-4-1, Ver
2-3-3
Cornell 6th
break tie with Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Vermont

Dartmouth 8th
break tie with Harvard and Vermont
head to head - 1-1-0
record v. Top 4 - Harv 2-6-0, Verm 4-4-0
Vermont 9th, Harvard 10th

-->> Let's break some more ties.
- Princeton, Harvard, Vermont, and Dartmouth
Order -->Princeton, Dartmouth, Vermont, Harvard

- Princeton, Harvard, Dartmouth
Order --> Princeton, Harvard, Dartmouth

- Princeton, Harvard, Vermont
Can not happen

-->>How about a three way tie for 8th place?
happens if SLU ties, Vermont and Dartmouth lose
SLU, Vermont, Dartmouth
head to head - SLU 1-3-0, Ver 1-2-1, Dart 3-0-1
Dartmouth 8th
break tie between Vermont and SLU
head to head 1-1-0
Record v. Top 4 - SLU 1-7-0, Ver 4-4-0
Vermont 10th, SLU 11th

Go back and break the 8th place tie for the two scenarios that I do
not have, that is the tie with Colgate and Princeton.

Anything else I missed?
