Actually, it was Erik Cole that went to Clarkson, not Erik Staal.  

Cole has been out with an injured neck since late in the season.  There was some speculation that he might be back for a "late round playoff game" but since we've already reached that point it is more likely he won't play until next season.  Cole has been seen skating during practice, tho.
