DISALVATORE PACES OFFENSE... Sophomore Jon DiSalvatore (S. Windsor, Conn.)
registered five points (three goals, two assists) in PC's two games versus
BU and Union on October 28-29.  On October 28, the sophomore winger tallied
the game's first goal on blast from just inside the blue-line and assisted
on Devin Rask's (Parkside, Saskatchewan) game-tying goal in the squad's 4-4
tie versus BU.  On October 29, DiSalvatore  recorded his fifth career
multiple-point game, notching two goals and one assists in a 8-0 win over
Union.

SCHAEFER POSTS FIRST CAREER SHUTOUT... Sophomore Nolan Schaefer (Yellow
Grass, Saskatchewan) registered his first career shutout in the Friars' 8-0
victory over Union on October 29.  Schaefer stopped 35 shots for his second
win of the season.  In two games, Schaefer has posted a 2-0-0 record, a
0.50 goals against average and an .984 saves percentage.

FRIARS POST 1-0-1 WEEKEND RECORD...The Friars' improved their record to
3-0-1 after an 8-0 win over Union on October 29 and a 4-4 tie versus BU on
October 28.  On October 28, the Friars took an early 2-0 lead over the
Terriers, on goals from Jon DiSalvatore (S. Windsor, Conn.) and Adam
Lee(Brampton, Ont.).  BU tallied three unanswered goals before the Friars'
J.J. Picinic (Fort Lee, N.J.) tied the game 3-3.  The Friars surrendered a
late goal to the Terriers but salvaged the tie on a Devin Rask (Parkside,
Saskacthewan) tally with 1:33 remaining in regulation.  Boyd Ballard
(Weyburn, Saskacthewan) record 32 saves in the tie. On October 29, the
Friars defeated Union, 8-0.  The Friars special teams tallied four of the
eight goals as seven different Friars tallied a goal.  Jon DiSalvatore (S.
Windsor, Conn.) led the Friars' attack registering two goals and one assist
while Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskacthewan) chipped in with three
assists.  Sophomore Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskacthewan) recorded 35
saves for his first career shutout.  For the second time this season, the
Friars' penalty kill did not allow a goal.

Next FOR the FRIARS... The Friars will host the defending HOCKEY EAST
tournament champion Maine Black Bears on Friday, November 3 at Schneider
Arena at 7:00 p.m.  On Saturday, November 4, Providence will travel across
town for the 15th annual Mayor's Cup versus Brown.

THE Providence-Maine ALL-TIME Series... Friday's game will be the 72nd
meeting between the two schools.  Maine leads the all-time series
43-26-2..  The two teams first met on January 5, 1980 with Providence
defeating Maine, 4-3, at Alfond Arena.  PC's last win over Maine was a 7-2
victory on December 6, 1997 at Schneider Arena.  The Friars last loss to
Maine was a 5-4 overtime defeat on March 10, 2000 in the HOCKEY EAST
Quarterfinals.

MAINE vs. PC AT SCHNEIDER ARENA...  The Friars have posted a 14-14-1 record
against the Black Bears at Schneider Arena.  In PC's last game against
Maine at Schneider Arena, the Friars were defeated by the Black Bears 3-2
on March 4, 2000.  The Friars last win over Maine was a 7-2 victory on
December 6, 1997 at Schneider Arena.

LAST SEASON AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS... The Friars registered a 0-3-1 mark
last season against the Black Bears.  In the first meeting between the
Friars and the Black Bears last season, then No. 1 ranked Maine defeated
PC, 5-2, at Alfond Arena on November 7, 1999.  The Friars' goals were
scored by Josh MacNevin and Jason Ialongo.  Goaltender Boyd Ballard made 13
saves and surrendered five goals in 30:11 of action.  Freshman Nolan
Schaefer recorded 23 stops in 29:41 and did not allow a goal.  On March 3,
the Friars skated to a 6-6 tie with sixth-ranked Maine at Schneider
Arena.  PC's goals were scored by Drew Omicioli, Doug Sheppard, Adam Lee
(two goals), Peter Fregoe and Jon DiSalvatore.  Ballard registered 40 stops
in the game.  In the final meeting of the regular season, Maine earned a
3-2 win at Schneider Arena.  DiSalvatore and Matt Libby scored PC's
goals.  Ballard made 29 stops in the loss. The two teams battled again in
the HOCKEY EAST Quarterfinals, with Maine handing the Friars a 5-3 loss and
a 5-4 overtime loss on March 9-10, 2000.  On March 9, Matt Libby, Fernando
Pisani and Jon DiSalvatore scored for the Friars.  Boyd Ballard stopped 34
shots in the loss.  On March 10,  Devin Rask, Heath Gordon, Nick Lent and
Peter Fregoe all netted goals for the Friars in the overtime loss.  Ballard
recorded 39 saves for the Friars.

the mayor's cup...On November 4, PC and cross-town rival Brown University
will battle in the 15th annual Mayor's Cup at Brown's Meehan
Auditorium.  Last season, Brown defeated PC, 4-2, in the Mayor's Cup and
cut Friars' all-time lead in the series to 8-5-1.  Josh Barker netted two
goals, including the game winner, to lead the Bears to victory in the 1999
Mayor's Cup.  Scott Stirling made 30 saves in the win.  Brown has won three
out of the last four Mayor's Cup games.

the providence-brown series...This season marks the 80th meeting in the
storied rivalry between Rhode Island's only Division I college hockey
teams.  On March 27, 1927, the puck was dropped in the first meeting
between the schools, when Brown defeated Providence, 3-1, at the Rhode
Island Auditorium.  The two teams have had a very competitive series since
that first meeting, with Brown holding the 40-38-1 advantage.

PC vs. BROWN at MEEHAN AUDITORIUM... The Friars have posted a 13-14-0
record against Brown at Meehan Auditorium.  PC's last win against the Bears
at Meehan Auditorium was a 3-3 victory on Jan. 12, 1999.  The Friars' last
loss to the Bears at Meehan Auditorium was a 3-2 defeat on Jan. 25,
1997.  In five Mayor's Cup games at Meehan Auditorium, the Friars have
posted a 4-1 mark.
