One of the problems with TCHCR is that it doesn't incorporate any information
about games yet to be played. So when you talk about schedule strength, what
you are referring to is schedule *up to this point in time*, right? In order
to get some additional information into the rankings regarding the remaining
schedule, what if you added all remaining Div. I games to the TCHCR as ties
between the respective teams? You'd also have to make some other choices too,
i.e., neutral ice, percentage of goals allowed = team avg. to date in played
games, and regulation time.
The potential advantage I see in this kind of procedure is that it might give
extra predictive power about what to expect at the end of the season. To
make the TCHCR a better predictor of future (read end of season) ratings,
I think at the least some modification which builds in entire season
schedule might be valuable.
