GREEN NAMED ECAC NE GOALIE OF THE WEEK

CENTERVILLE, MA– Freshman goaltender Jeff Green (Medway, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth hockey team has been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Green has been named ECAC Northeast Goaltender of the Week for his performance in last week’s games.

Last week, the Corsairs defeated Johnson & Wales, 6-1, and Nichols, 5-0. Green stopped 45 of 46 shots, and earned his third shutout of the season, handing the Bison their first shut out of the season. In seven games, Green is 7-0-0 with a .955 save percentage and a goals-against average of 0.97. Based on his stats in conference games only, he leads the ECAC Northeast in goals-against average, save percentage and winning percentage.

“Jeff has played a very instrumental role down the stretch,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “Jeff has backstopped us to three big wins: the 6-0 shutout of Wentworth, the 6-1 win over Johnson & Wales, and the 5-0 shutout of Nichols. He has done everything that we’ve asked of him during this stretch run and has played very well.”

The Corsairs are 21-4-0, 14-1-0 against ECAC Northeast Conference opponents. They will go for their 18th consecutive victory when they host a first round ECAC Northeast playoff game Saturday against Salve Regina.
