Mitch Goldenberg may have thought the SLU-RPI game was poorly officiated but
the Clarkson-Cornell officiating was not noticable (a good thing for
officials).

I sat in the Clarkson band section and the noise from both sides was pretty
loud considering there were only 5000(?) tickets sold for BOTH games.

I happened to meet fellow hockey-L'er Dave Smith and we had an interesting
albeit short conversation. Always nice to put a face with a name. Sorry
Lisa Sweeney, I forgot what you said you were wearing.

The Clarkson-Cornell game was definitely the most exciting game I've ever
been to/watched...the end notwithstanding. I wanted to stay for the SLU-RPI
game but my heart fell out when I saw the Cornell team celebrating right in
front of my seat.

How does the Garden hold 15,000 people?

Mikes Zak and Machnik were right about Clarkson's poor defense. They had a
horrible time clearing the zone, especially in the disastrous 2nd period.
A guy on our bus noted that Clarkson, for some reason, waited for their
teammates to stop skating before they passed the puck instead of hitting them
on the fly. Their offense had real problems getting going. I'm curious as to
how much of this is a result of coaching (or lack thereof, on this aspect).

Also, Clarkson never really had a man in front on the powerplay nor did
their players seem to move around, they were fairly stationary.

Enough on Clarkson, Cornell's defense was quite solid but their offense was
playing as advertised (almost not at all). Duffus was quite good except for
the 2nd goal...details of which I am still uncertain. He should have been
first team ECAC goalie, for sure.

SLU may go far in the NC$$'s but only as long as they are consistent (lack
of which has plagued both north country teams this year). SLU, when at their
best, can beat anyone...including Maine (no, that is not a scientific fact,
just speculation).

The big question around here is who will get the last two East bids. The
consensus east choices are Maine, UNH and SLU. While BU, Providence and
Clarkson will be fighting for the last two spots (unless UAA amazingly
gets put in the west). Who has the edge? I PERSONALLY think BU will get a
bid. I don't know who will be chosen between Providence and Clarkson...although
I hope the committee won't choose 4 HE teams and only 1 ECAC team...something
that MAY work in Clarkson's favor (not necesarily 'should work in their favor').

All for now.
