And now for something completely different...
I've been working on this for a while, and it is now ready to present to
the list. Please look it over and fire away with your questions. I will
do my best to answer them. Please note that I did not devise the rating
method; it is based on published information.

Rating Percentage Index for College Hockey, compiled by Erik Biever
RPICH is an attempt to rate college hockey teams by objective methods.
The formula is that used as one of the tools for evaluating teams for
the national tournaments in college baseball, basketball, and hockey.
This implementation of the formula is derived from information published
in The Sporting News and Let's Play Hockey. RPICH is calculated by
summing each team's winning percentage, the average winning percentage
of its opponents, and the average winning percentage of its opponents'
opponents, multiplied by 20%, 40%, and 40% respectively. Factors such
as home ice and margin of victory are not included. No individual game
is weighted more heavily than any other. Only the 678 Division 1
games through 3/3/92 are included.
RPICH IS BASED ON SCORES COMPILED AND CALCULATIONS PERFORMED
INDEPENDENT OF THE NCAA AND ANY AGENTS THEREOF.
