Princeton scored early and often, taking a 4-0 lead in the first and
then cruising to a 7-2 win over Union tonight in Schenectady. The
highlight for Union came well after the outcome was decided. Brandon
Snee and Marc Wise were both chased, giving freshman goalie Kyle Loney
his first varisty ice time for Union. Loney made some great saves and
then earned an assist on Nathan Gillies' goal late in the third.
What a difference a night makes. Princeton and Yale, which combined
for one goal in the Capital District games on Friday, put in 12
against Union and RPI on Saturday. In doing so, Princeton and Yale
jump back over Union and Colgate, which also lost, in the ECAC
standings. Colgate and Union (both 7-10-1) are tied for the 10th and
final playoff spot, but are just one point behind the 7th-place logjam
of Yale, Princeton, and Vermont.
Brown and Harvard visit the Capital District next weekend in Union's
final home weekend.
