SCSU's Arnason Named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University junior Tyler Arnason, a
resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been named the WCHA men's hockey
offensive player of the week for games played on Feb. 2-3.

On Feb. 2, Arnason posted the first goal of game at 7:31 of first period on
the power play and also tallied an assist on Nate DiCasmirrošs goal in the
third period.  Arnason had five shots on goal during the game against #4
Colorado College, which the Huskies lost 5-3.

Arnason returned on Feb. 3, with two big goals in the third period to lift
the Huskies to a 7-5 win over Colorado College in St. Cloud.  Arnasonšs
first goal came at 3:08 of the third period on the power play, which tied
the game at 5-5 (at one point SCSU trailed 4-1).  Arnason then hit the game
winner at 7:49 of the the third.  He also posted an assist on the final goal
of the game by Brandon Sampair and gained an assist on Sampairšs goal in the
second period.  In the game, Arnason had five shots on goal and was +3 on
the +/-.

In total, Arnason had three goals, three assists, 10 SOG, and +3 on the +/-
over the weekend.  Arnason now leads the Huskies with 33 points this season
(17g/16a).  In his storied career at St. Cloud State, Arnason has 50 goals
and 63 assists for a total of 113 points.   Arnason is the 7th player in
SCSU history to score 50 or more goals in his career.  He ranks 8th in team
records with 63 assists, while Sampair is 7th with 67 assists.  Arnason is
tied for 14th on the all-time scoring list along with Vic Brodt (40-73-111
from 1986-90).

SCSU (20-7-1, 13-7-0 WCHA) will continue its 2000-01 season on Feb. 9-10,
with a pair of games at Alaska-Anchorage.   SCSU was ranked 6th in the
latest NCAA Division I college hockey polls.
