UPCOMING GAMES:  The #6 St. Cloud State menšs hockey team (20-7-1, 13-7-0
WCHA) will travel to Alaska-Anchorage (5-18-3, 3-16-3 WCHA) on Feb. 9 and
Feb. 10.  Game times in Alaska will at 10:35 p.m. on Feb. 9, and 10:05 p.m.
on Feb. 10 (CST).  Both games will be played at UAAšs Sullivan Arena (cap.
6,406/200x100).  In the USCHO and USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine polls
released on Jan. 29, SCSU was ranked #6 in the nation at the NCAA Division I
level.

THE RESULTS: The #6 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team battled
back from a three goal deficit to gain a big 7-5 win over #4 Colorado
College on Feb. 3, in St. Cloud.  CC jumped to a 1-0 lead at 12:37 of the
first with a goal by Alex Kim and then moved to a 2-0 lead with a tally by
Mark Cullen at 14:37 of the first on the power play.  SCSU charted its first
goal at 15:17 of the first when Brian Gaffaney scored with an assist from
Ritchie Larson.  Kim struck again for the Tigers with a goal at 15:45 of the
first before Noah Clarke made it 4-1 at 17:28 of the first.  SCSU started to
climb back in the second period when Brandon Sampair notched his sixth goal
of the season at 1:27 with assists from Tyler Arnason and Nate DiCasmirro.
CC scored again but from that point it was all SCSU.  Andy Lundbohm posted
his third goal of the season at 11:51 of the second before Jon Cullen gave
the Huskies another goal at 16:01 to end the second period scoring.  In the
final period, Tyler Arnason charted a power play goal to tie the game at
3:08.  Arnason struck again at 7:49 with the game winner with an assist from
Sampair.  Sampair notched his fourth point of the night with an empty net
goal at 19:46 .  In the nets, Dean Weasler charted 26 saves, while CC
outshot the Huskies 31-29...SCSU dropped a 5-3 decision at home against #4
Colorado College on Feb. 2. SCSU jumped to a quick 1-0 lead with a power
play tally by Arnason at 7:31 of the first.  CC tied it with a goal by Kim
at 12:16 of the first before Mark Hartigan gave the Huskies' a 2-1 lead with
his 18th goal of the season at 16:07.  In the second period, CC scored twice
before gaining the game winner in the third period.  DiCasmirro posted his
fifth goal of the season at 7:09 of the third on the power play with assists
from Sampair and Arnason.  CC iced the win with an empty netter by Kim at
18:57. Scott Meyer had 19 saves for SCSU and Dean Weasler had three saves.
Overall, CC outshot the Huskies 27-20.

HEAD COACH: SCSU coach Craig Dahl (Pacific Lutheran, 1976) in his 14th
season as head coach for the Huskies.  He is the only coach that SCSU has
had since moving to the NCAA Division I level in 1987-88.  Dahl has a career
record of 249-241-38 at SCSU and a 20-year career coaching mark of
325-328-40.  Dahl won his 300th career game on 2/19/00.  In 1997-98, Dahl
was named the WCHA Coach of the Year.  He has won more games than any SCSU
hockey coach.  In 2000-01, Dahl will be assisted by Doc DelCastillo (SCSU,
1992) in his third season and first year coach Brad Willner (Lake Superior
State, 1995).

ALL-TIME RECORD: The Huskies and Coach Dahl both own a 249-241-38 record
since the program went Division I in 1987-88.  This is the first season that
the Huskies have gone above .500 with their overall record since going
Division I...The Ferris State game on Oct. 13th was the 500th Division I
hockey game in the history of the program at SCSU.  The game was also Dahlšs
500th as a coach at SCSU.

HUSKY BITS:  SCSU snapped its longest losing streak of the season on Feb. 3,
with a 7-5 win at home over #4 Colorado College.  The win broke a three-game
losing streak dating back to a 4-3 setback at UND on Jan. 26.  SCSU hadn't
lost three in a row since dropping five in a row last season from Nov.
5-Nov. 19...The Huskies battled back from a three-goal deficit during their
7-5 win over CC on Feb. 3.  This marked the first time since a 6-4 win over
DU on Nov. 29, 1997 that the Huskies have rallied from a three-gaol deficit
to win a game.  The game also marked just the second time this season that
SCSU has won a game when it went into the third period trailing... On Jan.
19, SCSU hit a season-high and national high with four pp goals...SCSU was
named the USATODAY.com national team of the week on Jan. 18.  SCSU received
its highest national ranking since going Division I in 1987-88 with a #3/4
ranking in both the USCHO and USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine polls last
week.  SCSU was also ranked #3 in the last Let's Play Hockey national
poll...SCSU is 9-3 on the road and 11-4-1 at home this season... SCSU has
hit the 20-win mark for the fifth time since becoming a Division I program
in 1987-88.  The Huskies need four more wins to hit a program high for most
wins in a season.  The previous team-highs were 23 wins in 1999-00 (23-14-3)
and 1996-97 (23-13-4).  As a Division III program, SCSU collected a 25-10-1
record in 1986-87 under the leadership of coach Herb Brooks.  SCSU also
charted a 25-2 record in 1934-35...Colorado Collegešs five goals on Feb. 2,
were the most allowed by the Huskies in one game this season.  SCSU returned
the favor on Feb. 3, by tying a season-high with seven goals.  SCSU also hit
a season-high with three second period goals vs. CC on Feb. 3...Earlier in
the season, the Huskies whipped Bemidji State 7-0...SCSU hit a season low
with only 20 shots on goal vs. CC on Feb. 2...SCSU road has been tough over
the past weeks.  On Jan. 26-27, SCSU played at #3 North Dakota and on Feb.
2-3, SCSU played #4 CC.  After a tough trip to UAA on Feb. 9-10, the Huskies
will play at #12 Wisconsin and complete the regular season with games
against #7 Minnesota.  In between on Feb. 23-24, SCSU will host Mankato,
which received votes in the last national poll.

A NEW TEAM RECORD:  The Huskies hit a new team record on Jan. 20 by winning
their ninth consecutive game on Jan. 20.  The previous best was seven
consecutive wins set last year from Jan. 14-Feb. 4.  SCSU set a team record
with a 10-game unbeaten streak last year that included two ties during that
stretch.

100-POINT CLUB MEMBERS:  Tyler Arnason and Brandon Sampair are both members
of the 100 point club. On Jan. 12, Arnason scored a goal and an assist,
while Sampair had a goal and two assists.  Aranson (50g/63a) and has 17g/16a
this season... Brandon Sampair (44g/67a).  He has 7g/25a this season.
Sampair and Arnason are the 24rd and 25th players in team history (all
Divisions) to reach the 100-point level in their careers...of note, Arnason
is the 7th player in SCSU history to score 50 or more goals in his career.
He ranks 8th in team records with 63 assists, while Sampair is 7th with 67
assists.  Arnason is tied for 14th on the all-time scoring list along with
Vic Brodt (40-73-111 from 1986-90).

ON THE RADIO: Husky hockey can be heard on KNSI Radio 1450 AM during the
2000-01 season.  The broadcasts will also be available on the web at
www.1450knsi.com.  Don Lyons will call the play-by-play and former SCSU
All-American Dave Reichel will provide the color commentary for home
games selected games this season will also be broadcast live by KVSC FM
88.1...KNSI AM 1450 will also host the Craig Dahl Show each Monday at 5:05
p.m. during the season.  The show will feature Coach Dahl, SC Times writer
Kevin Allenspach and host Don Lyons.  The show is sponsored by Plaza Park
Bank/Investment Centers of America.

HUSKIES ON TV: A total of 18 Husky home games this season will be televised
live on St. Cloud's Charter Communications cable channel 65 this season.
Charter Communications are also slated to carry the games live on their
systems in Alexandria, Willmar and Little Falls. KSTC channel 45 (Charter
cable channel 17 in St. Cloud) out of the Twin Cities.   Veteran announcer
Wally Shaver will call the play-by-play along with color commentary from
Doug Johnson.  KSTC games slated for this season are Feb. 24 Mankato and
Match 3 Minnesota.

HUSKY AUTOGRAPH DEN:  SCSU fans can obtain autographs in the Husky Autograph
Den after each home game this season.  Players slated to appear in the
autograph den after the game on Feb. 23 are Brandon Sampair and Duvie
Westcott and on Feb. 24 are Jon Cullen and Brian Gaffaney.

HUSKIES READING FOR FUN:  Each year the St. Cloud Public Library and the
SCSU hockey teams combine to present the Husky Reading for Fun program.
This popular childrenšs reading program at the St. Cloud Public Library in
downtown St. Cloud, features SCSU players reading books on selected Saturday
mornings prior to SCSU home games.  The program continues on Feb. 24, and it
will feature Lee Brooks and Ryan LaMere.  For more information, please call
the Library at 251-7282.

ABOUT SCSU: The 1999-2000 season marked the 13th year that SCSU has been a
member of NCAA Division I hockey.  SCSU joined the Division I hockey ranks
in 1987-88 and became a member of the WCHA in 1990-91. That first year in
the league, SCSU finished fifth with a 12-16-4 league record and an 18-19-4
overall record. SCSU's highest league finish has been third place, a
standing that was reached in 1996-97 and again in 1999-2000...since going
Division I, SCSU owns a 249-241-38 overall record.

2000-01 TEAM CAPTAINS: The 2000-01 team captain is senior forward Brandon
Sampair (Mahtomedi).  Assistant captains are senior forward Keith Anderson
(Thief River Falls) and senior defenseman Ritchie Larson (Winnipeg, Mant.).

NOTES ABOUT UAA:  Alaska-Anchorage is 5-18-3 overall and has not won a game
since a 3-1 win over Mankato on Nov. 17...on Feb. 2, the Seawolves skated to
a 3-3 tie at home against UW before losing 3-2 to the Badgers in OT on Feb.
3... UAAšs only home ice win this season was a 3-2 win over UA-Fairbanks on
Oct. 22...Gregg Zaporzan (8g/9a) and Mike Scott (5g/12a) each lead UAA with
17 points...Chris King owns a 3.14 GAA and .886 SV% with a 5-15-3
record...On Dec. 15-16, the Huskies edged UAA 3-1 and 4-3 in games played at
the NHC.  Jon Cullen had two goals in the series, while Brandon Sampair and
Tyler Arnason each had three points over the weekend.

TEAM NOTES:  Back on Dec. 15-16 at the NHC, SCSU posted a 3-1 and 4-3 sweep
over UAA.  In game one of the series, goalie Scott Meyer posted his first
and only assist of the season, while Ritchie Larson had two goals and one
assist on Dec. 16...as of Feb. 4, SCSu ranked 4th in the WCHA with a 3.75
goals per game rate and 3rd in the league with a 2.80 goals against average.
UAAšs 2.23 goals per game ranks 10th in the WCHA and its 3.73 GAA is 8th in
the league...UAA ranks 10th in the WCHA with a low 11.0 PIM per game, while
the Huskies are 5th at 19.6...SCSUšs power play ranks 5th in the league at
21.5% and UAA is 10th at 10.2%...Scott Meyer ranks 3rd in the WCHA with a
.918 save % and fourth with 2.50 GAA (WCHA games only)...Brandon Sampair
ranks 6th in the WCHA in scoring at 26 points, while Mark Hartigan is 8th
with 25 points...Jon Cullen leads the conference with 4 shorthanded points
(2g/2a) and Sampair is second with 3 points (1g/2a)...Hartigan is second in
the league with 15 goals and Sampair is third with 21 assists...Arnason,
Cullen and Motzko lead the team with three GWG this season... Hartigan and
Arnason lead the team with seven power play goals, while Arnason, Derek
Eastman and Cullen have a team-leading two SHGs apiece...Arnason moved into
the team lead last weekend with 33 points (17g/16a), while Sampair is second
at 32 (7g/25a) and Hartigan is 3rd at 31 points (18g/13a) ...SCSU has nine
SHGs this season, while the team record of 14 was set in 1993-94...Arnason
pushed his team leading scoring streak to five-games last night...Dean
Weasler, who replaced the injured Scott Meyer last night in the third
period, saw his first action of the season on Feb. 2.  Weasler last played
on Feb. 11, 2000 during a 5-3 loss at Wisconsin.  His last start for the
Huskies was on Nov. 12, 1999 during a 3-2 loss to UMD at the NCH...SCSU is
an impressive 34-134 on the power play this season (.254)...Duvie Westcott
played for the Seawolves for part of the 1997-98 season.  He completed that
season at Omaha of the USHL before transfering to SCSU in 1998-99...Sampair
only needs nine more assists this season to set the single season record for
most assists at SCSU.  The current record of 33 assists was set by Jeff
Saterdalen in 1989-90...Frosh forward Andy Lundbohm scored on Feb. 3, which
was his first goal since hitting one on Dec. 1, at Michigan Tech.
Lundbohm's goal was an all-rookie effort as assists were credited to
freshman defender Colin Peters and freshman forward Matt Hendricks.  For
Peters, it was his first point since an assist on Dec. 9 vs. Wisconsin.  For
Hendricks, it was his first point since an assist against Brown on Jan. 12.
In the game, senior Brian Gaffaney charted his second goal of the season.
The goal for Gaffaney broke a nine-game scoring slump.

BIG CROWDS: 123,504 people attended SCSU home games in 1999-2000, an average
of 5,881 per game...in home games this season, SCSU has an attendance total
of 81,347 for an average of 5,810 per game...On Nov. 17, SCSU was at
capacity for the first time in 2000-01 with a crowd of 6,685.
