This is utter nonsense.  There is teeth-gnashing about violence
*everywhere*.  If I had a nickle for every well-meant but ultimately
meaningless "call to arms" on this issue...

Shit happens, folks.  Do your best, teach your children well.  But every
incident is not a Important Social Issue.  It's an event.  Waving the bloody
shirt doesn't make an argument -- it's just an intellectually dishonest
rhetorical technique.

What's really tragic is that a few loud people will always prefer overbroad
social prescriptions and blue ribbon commissions over simple personal
responsibility.
