Wow, I had forgotten how passionate many promoters of alternative ranking
systems are about justifying their favorite ranking system.  Some even get
rather nasty and personal.  Anyway, congratulations to the Purple Eagles
for indisputably (at least to rational people) proving that they were a Top
10 team in 2000 D1 hockey.
 
Now, let's directly address the problem of conference incest.  Let's
suppose that the NCAA were to set a minimum number of non-conference games
for all teams to play in order to be tournament eligible.  What should that
number be?????  Wouldn't it be nice if the NCAA could force the Big Boys,
Little Boys, Elites, and Outcasts to play together more often.  And
wouldn't it be nice if they forced the school administrators to be a little
more creative and do a little extra work in establishing schedules?
